Most people think prison is where dreams end.

For us, it became the place where purpose began.

Crookd Crown Publishing wasn't created simply to publish books. It wasn't created to release music. It wasn't created to sell products or build a brand.

It was created to prove something much bigger:

A person's worst mistake does not have to become the final chapter of their story.

Every book we publish, every curriculum we develop, every song we release, every conversation we have with a young person serves one purpose—to create a better tomorrow than yesterday.

Crookd Crown Publishing exists to amplify voices that the world often overlooks.

Founded by Brandon D. Cox, also known as King B, the company was built on a simple belief:

Everyone has a story. Few people are ever given the opportunity to tell it.

Our vision extends far beyond publishing our own work.

We're helping incarcerated men organize their experiences into books that educate, inspire, challenge perspectives, and leave a legacy for their children and communities. Many of these men never imagined becoming authors. Yet within prison walls are fathers, entrepreneurs, artists, mentors, veterans, tradesmen, and leaders whose stories deserve to be preserved—not because they are perfect, but because they are honest.

Publishing becomes more than printing words on paper.

It becomes restoration.

It becomes accountability.

It becomes legacy.

When someone discovers that their experiences can help another human being avoid the same mistakes, hope begins to replace hopelessness.

Participants learn how trauma influences decision-making, why emotional regulation matters, how accountability creates freedom, and how communication, identity, and personal responsibility become the foundation for lasting success.

The Bridge Mentors Initiative exists to bridge the gap between lived experience and future opportunity.

Young people often hear advice from people who have never walked the roads they're navigating.

Our mentors have.

They understand peer pressure.

Street culture.

Family instability.

Trauma.

Identity.

Loss.

And they also understand growth.

Bridge Mentors connects youth with individuals who can offer honesty, accountability, encouragement, and practical life skills while demonstrating that change is possible regardless of where life begins.

We're not interested in giving speeches.

We're interested in building relationships.

Because relationships change lives.

Repairing Harm Through Service

Recently, during a jail call interview, I was asked a question I've thought about many times.

"How do you maintain such a positive attitude and such a strong desire to help other people while serving a life sentence?"

The answer came easily.

Because the sentence that could have become the end of my story became the beginning of my purpose.

I cannot rewrite yesterday.

I cannot erase the pain connected to my past.

Accountability means accepting that reality without excuse.

But accountability also means asking a different question:

What good can I create today?

Every book donated to a school.

Every young person encouraged to think differently.

Every incarcerated man who discovers he has the ability to become an author.

Every curriculum that helps someone communicate better, regulate emotions, repair relationships, or choose a different path.

Every song that reminds someone they still have value.

These acts don't erase the harm that has been caused.

They represent an ongoing commitment to create more healing than hurt, more hope than hopelessness, and more opportunities than obstacles.

That's what redemption looks like.

Not pretending the past never happened.

But allowing today's actions to reflect who you're committed to becoming.

I'm a kid from North Omaha.

Today, I'm building businesses, publishing books, creating educational programs, releasing music heard around the world, and helping others tell their stories—

all from a prison cell.

Some people see prison as the place where potential disappears.

We've chosen to prove it can also become the place where purpose is discovered.

I refuse to let time define me.

Instead, I'll spend every day defining what my time means.

When my life is remembered, I don't want people to focus on the years I spent incarcerated.

I hope they remember the lives that were encouraged because I refused to stop serving others.

The opportunities created for other incarcerated men.

The hope shared with young people searching for direction.

The bridges built where walls once existed.
